In a previous post I wrote about the shows we binge watch as a family.
At that time, we had only begun watching Six Feet Under.
We’re now further in and, um, wow, I forgot how many sexual situations are in this show 😳
You might be thinking, “Well you’re the parent of the year who watched The Sopranos with your kids twice, and that show centers around a strip club and there are boobies in every episode.”
You would be correct.
But at The Bada Bing, those are like cartoon boobs. The women look like they had 2 flesh-colored balloons stapled to their chests. I don’t think I ever saw an actual good boob job on that show.
We would still yell out, “Close your eyes!” whenever a scene in The Bing took place. And my innocent little angel sons would always close their eyes. They never peeked. Not even once! They’ve never seen a boob in their entire lives. What good boys, I tell ya. Angels 😇😇😇
But Six Feet Under… well let me start by saying that I only saw the first run 25 years ago and I basically forgot everything. I just remembered it was really good.
We’re starting to run out of shows to binge, so I suggested it. I didn’t think my kids would really be into it, but wanted to give it a try anyway.
It is SO good. And surprisingly, my kids LOVE it.
Last night my son had YouTube on in the background while doing his homework. He was watching a montage of Mad Men’s Don Draper’s best lines (aka one of my faves, Jon Hamm 😍 Hammy 😍) so I had to stop and watch Don insult Ginsburg with, “I don’t think about you at all.” and lambast Peggy with, “THAT’S WHAT THE MONEY IS FOR!” which led us to talking about all the shows we’ve watched.
Homework Shmomework – we have more important things to discuss!
Then my other son came to join the convo and the two of them absolutely floored me when they both said Six Feet Under was in their TOP TWO and The Sopranos had been knocked down the list!!!!
They declared Succession to be the funniest of all – specifically because of Tom & Greg (“Can’t make a Tomlette without breaking a few Gregs”) but the plots (no pun intended) in Six Feet Under make it rank so high.
I know I’m biased, but is that not the most mature answer you’ve ever heard from teenagers?
I told them Breaking Bad and Six Feet Under would never be in my top 3 because they’re very dark and dank. Both exceptional shows, but I prefer watching more visually pleasing things like Mad Men with all their pretty people and my Hammy 😍 Call me shallow… as Walter White said:
Ya got me ✋😄🤚
But back to the sexual parts of Six Feet Under… we’re not just talking about bad boob jobs. Last night’s episode featured a corpse that had a Prince Albert piercing and we got a nice, close up look at it 🍆 😳
And that’s only one example.
This is definitely not a show I’d want to watch with my parents. I would die (no pun intended again, I swear) but my kids don’t seem to mind.
I guess maybe I shouldn’t feel like I’m the worst parent in the world – after all, they have the internet, they’ve surely seen it all already.
Isn’t it better for them to see a giant dick piercing in the safety of their living room with their parents to guide them through it? No? Ok 🫤
