Snoring like a war pig.

PJ isn’t feeling well and woke me up with his snoring, so I’m just sitting here listening to him.

His snore sounds like the repeated “da-nun” in the song War Pigs.

Blogs can’t accurately describe songs, but I will try my best:

Generals gathered in their massessss Da-Nun (<—PJ’s snore)

Just like witches at black masses Da-Nun (<— PJ’s snore)

You get the idea. And if you don’t because you don’t know the song War Pigs by Black Sabbath, I highly recommend you listen to it right now.

1. Because it’s one of the best songs ever written and still quite apropos in our world right now; and

2. Because when Ozzy screams “Oh Lord yeah!”, it is the single greatest utterance in any song that was ever sung in the history of the world.

I declared this to PJ yesterday and he said, “Oh yeah?”, then when the song was over, said it was entirely too long. (It clocks in around 5+ minutes and worth every single second. He knows nothing.)

Maybe that’s why PJ’s snore sounds like that song to me, because it’s on the top of my mind. We listened to it on the way up to my son’s college orientation yesterday.

PJ hasn’t been feeling great lately so he asked me to drive.

*side note: When I was a kid, I wasn’t quite as progressive as I am now. Whenever my mom drove and my dad sat in the passenger seat, I’d ask him to pretend his arm was broken so people would think that’s why he wasn’t driving. Can you imagine thinking it was emasculating to let a woman drive?! What in the hell was I thinking? And thank God I don’t still feel that way!! It is a funny anecdote though; one I tell my family every time I drive instead of PJ. They never get sick of my stories. Ever. Ask them.

Anyway, because I drove, I had total control of the playlist. This is 1000% a benefit because when PJ drives, I have to listen to his music. Guys, it’s bad. I’m talkin Huey Lewis, too much Alice In Chains for my liking, and Lindsay Buckingham’s Holiday Road that he added so we can pretend we’re the Griswold’s on every road trip.

When PJ turns on his playlist, I turn into Audrey & Russ putting on their headphones to listen to Blitzkreig Bop.

Of course I sing along to every song I know, and kind of embarrassingly, even ones I don’t.

We’ve been watching a documentary called, “Should I Marry a Murderer?” and the girl in the show talks about one of her boyfriends banning her from singing in the car.

PJ said he was going to do that to me and I said, “Yeah, ok. I’ll shove you out of the car while it’s moving.”

This girl must live on planet “Pretend you have a broken arm if a woman is driving” to put up with that nonsense. I mean, I know not everyone is like me, threatening to murder their husband if they ever try to tell them what to do, but to have some fucker tell you you’re banned from singing in the car? AND YOU STAY IN THAT RELATIONSHIP?????? I’m sorry, please turn in your woman card and join another team.

This blog is getting too long, and PJ finally stopped snoring, so I’m going to try to sleep. Here’s one more thing from yesterday and I’ll stop.

You know how at any kind of big meeting the speakers try to get the crowd going? Well the orientation committee, made up of college students, did a whole routine.

One girl was so committed that she actually threw herself on the ground to pretend she was ill and passed out. PJ told us he thought she really collapsed. My son said the whole thing was corny. I said I thought it was funny. He said, “I know, you laughed at every single thing they did.” PJ said, “Were you embarrassed?” He said, “Yeah kinda.” 😑 I guess even my impeccable taste in music can’t save me from embarrassing my child.
