In a world where you can be anything, be kind.

True, but sometimes there are people who will never get that message no matter how many times they scroll past it on the internet.

It’s because they’re so unhappy that they don’t realize that being kind could actually turn the tables in their favor.

Being kind gives off good vibes that exude from you, are then shared with others, and ultimately come back to you. Karma, if you will.

But the people I’m talking about look around and see all the things that everyone else has – the things that they want but don’t have – and it makes them bitter.

The bitterness begins in their minds and finds its way to their broken hearts, travels down their unopen arms, through their cold fingers, and seeps out their skin and onto the keyboard where it ends in hurtful words on the internet. Sometimes it just comes straight out of their mouths in real life.

When you’re happy, you can’t understand how people can act so viciously. But if you take a look at their lives, there’s always an indicator. There’s always something there – or not there – that makes them sad and angry.

Maybe they longed for a career and now feel trapped because they have children.

Maybe they’ve always wanted children and can’t have them.

Maybe they always wanted to get married and never found “the one”.

Maybe they’re a closeted gay person and too afraid to come out to the world, so instead they live their life in misery.

Maybe they were bullied in school.

Maybe they know their spouse cheats on them.

Maybe they have faced oppression for far too long.

Maybe the breadwinner of the family controls the money and makes their spouse feel inadequate.

Maybe they’re unhappy with their appearance.

Maybe they were abused as a child.

Maybe they’re being abused now.

Maybe they are sick or one of their loved ones are sick.

Maybe they are grieving.

And then there are those that no matter what the world has blessed them with, they still feel like they are owed something.

It could be anything. But if you look just beyond the surface, there’s usually something there to explain it.

I give a lot of credit to the people who have experienced tragedy, trauma, grief, pain … and remain kind.

I know it’s hard sometimes. You could have chosen the path of bitterness, but you didn’t. You chose kindness ❤️
