One of my favorite movies is Old School with Will Ferrell, Luke Wilson, and Vince Vaughn.

Side note: We’re watching Bad Monkey with VV and I did not like it AT ALL. Then on the 5th episode, it got SO GOOD! If you’re feeling the same way, hang in there, it’s worth it!

Anyway, Old School used to be #1 on my list. PJ and I saw it in the theater in 2003, and when Will Ferrell streaked through the quad, I was laughing so hard that I was literally slapping my knee.

It has a little bit of everything: those 3 actors (Luke being the better Wilson in my humble opinion), Leah Remini, Juliette Lewis, a heartfelt Dust in the Wind send-off for our boy Blue, Howard before The Big Bang Theory, Andy Dick performing fellatio on a banana, and a cameo by the omnipresent Snoop D-O-Double G, or as Frank the Tank calls him when storming the stage naked: Snoop-a-Loop.

The reason it’s no longer #1 on my list is because, in my mind, when I presented my son with my favorite movie of all time, it would also become his favorite movie of all time too. Sadly, it did not. Honestly, I couldn’t blame him.

Even with the highlights I listed above – a movie that was made over 20 years ago just doesn’t hold up the same when you view it through your teenager’s eyes.

Maybe comedy has changed.

Maybe it’s because I watched it so many times.

Maybe it’s because Ellen Pompeo never should have been cast as Mitch’s love interest because they have zero chemistry and it’s always put a bit of a tarnish on the movie for me.

I don’t know.

What I DO know is that in the course of 21 years, I have become Frank Ricard before he pounds that first beer funnel.

Before morphing into Frank the Tank, the newlywed, while talking to some college kids says:

Two decades ago, I’d jokingly say this line. Now, I really mean it.

While lying in bed, waiting to drive my son to work, I’m happy to be up early because there are a few more things I need to purchase at Lowe’s Home Improvement so I can finally finish the project I’ve been working on for the past month … and I’m really excited about it.

What have I become?!?! 😩
