Low-key good people.

You know who are the best? The low-key “good” people.

The ones at first glance you’d think were just everyday, ordinary people, but come to find out that they shine so bright, it makes you want to be like them.

I’m not talking about those you see highlighted on the news or on social media. I’m not talking about the people who tell you all the ways that, “Yes! You too can be a righteous person if you follow alllll these rules that make me a good person!”

I’m talking about the couple in retirement, that you’d assume just chill on the beach all day, but instead have dedicated their lives to giving gifts to children who don’t get any on their birthdays.

I’m talking about a man who spent his entire life in the church, but can still decipher between what is real, Godly love and what are simply control tactics. A man who truly accepts and includes all people, even if they don’t think the way he does.

I’m talking about a woman who has taught me all about the power of grace, but in the next breath will tell me the most messed up joke I’ve ever heard.

So many people are fooled by the “good” people. The ones who never fail at letting the world know how good they are. The loudest good people. The teariest good people. The “be kind t-shirt wearing” good people. The “Look what I’m doing that you’re not doing” good people. The “You might be a good person, but if you’re not doing this, this, and this, you’re not a good person” good person.

Thank you to all the real ones. You might not get all the glory that the fake ones get, but fake sees fake and real sees real. Keep being a real good person. It is so much more special, and it makes me want to be a better person.
