Read this post then put your phone down and do something else.

Last night my family and I went to the Cheesecake Factory.

A couple came in and were seated diagonally across from us so that they were in my line of vision. (I mention the line of vision part so you don’t think I’m a weirdo stalker for what I’m about to tell you.)

I couldn’t help but notice them. They were in their twenties and a nice-looking couple. Actually, he was ok (think: all the actors in the 90s who were knock-off Leonardo DiCaprios, but didn’t have what Leo has 😍). She, on the other hand, was a natural beauty (think Lauren Bush but prettier. Google Lauren Bush if you’re not familiar.)

Anyway, this guy never got off his phone. Now, I am strongly opposed to people being on their phones during a meal as it is, but this was so incredibly rude that I couldn’t stop looking over because I was in such disbelief.

This turd was sitting across from a gorgeous woman (and it didn’t look like they were fighting) and he was paying zero attention to her. What could’ve been more important than talking to her in that moment??!!

And then… of course… he had to take a selfie.

He held the phone so they were both in the picture, and smiled like they were having the time of their lives. Then he must have sent it to her because they both went on their phones and went back to ignoring each other. The looks on their faces were like they were thinking really hard for the perfect hashtags.

Then she put her phone away and he stayed on his for the rest of the time. She looked so bored and sad.

Guys, girls, non-binary … please treat your significant others better than that.

I’m addicted to social media myself, but thankfully I was able to pull back when I started feeling like I was more interested in it than my own wonderful family.

That guy is going to lose that girl to someone who pays more attention to her. Don’t make the same mistake!

And if you have kids … man, they grow up fast. Talk to them right now!!

Or one day you’re going to wake up and think, ‘Yeah, I may have gotten 200 likes on this photo of my kids, but I barely even know who they are.’

Regret like that is the worst feeling in the world.
