There are many buzzwords and catchphrases I dislike, but the king of them all is:

Does that make sense?

I’ve yet to hear someone ask it after they’ve stated something that is particularly complicated. I truly think people use it as a condescending way to make sure you’re paying attention to them. Or maybe they say it because they think it makes them sound smart. I don’t know. I don’t care. I just want it to stop.

Just know that if you give me simple instructions and then say, “Does that make sense?” (Usually while squinting your eyes with a semi-confused look on your face), I might nod my head and say yes, but in reality I’m thinking, “Of course it makes sense, I’m not an imbecile.”

Some things just get under my skin, this is one of them. Could it be that someone is really checking in to make sure I’m understanding them? Maybe. I don’t care. It’s the worst.
