North Shore/South Shore and 90210.

I just woke up from a dream where I was a cast member of 90210, but it was real life.

I tease PJ and say he grew up in 90210 because he had 7 pair of Cavariccis compared to my one pair of light-wash denim that I rocked all the time.

He also wore silk, collared shirts that he’d button all the way up to the collar. (I don’t call him Steve Sanders for nothing.)

PJ grew up on the North Shore and I grew up on the South Shore. To give you an idea of what that means, I will quote fellow Long-Islander, William Martin Joel:

“Either you date a rich girl from the North Shore, or a cool girl from the South Shore.”

I amaze him with my coolness every day. Ask him – he’ll tell you 🤣

In my dream, I walked over to a car that Ahnnndrea Zuckerman was driving. We heard a crash and turned around to see David Silver falling out of a first floor window. We rolled our eyes and laughed.

Then I turned to see Dylan McKay and Brandon Walsh walking toward us, but when they got closer I realized it was really 2 guys I went to school with. Then I woke up. Boo.

So now I’m lying here thinking about how 13 years ago, at this very moment, I was in labor with my first son. I was on the verge of preeclampsia, so they induced me with Pitocin earlier that night.

As I gripped the side of the hospital bed in agony while having contractions, PJ was on the couch next to me sleeping like a baby – just like he’s doing right now. The next morning he joked that I kept him awake with my moaning. Ha. Ha. Ha. Funny 😐

Several, several hours later my son was born. From being stuck in the birth canal for so long, his head looked like one of those aerodynamic bike helmets that extends really far back for extra aerodynamicky-ness, but stuck more straight up.

It was frightening. The nurse told me it was normal and would go down in a day or so. I asked her to be honest with me and tell me if it was the worst she’d ever seen. She said no but I still don’t believe her.

In my son’s very first photo it looks like the little pink & blue striped hat that the hospital provides is puffed up and out, but it’s not – it’s all head. Allll noggin under there. Thank the Lord it went down after a day like she said it would. And now he’s a teenager.

Wow, just wow.

That young South Shore girl had no idea that 30+ years later she’d be married to a North Shore boy and live in the South with 3 kids.

She had no clue of the magical little life they’d build that is filled with so much love.

And she surely didn’t know how quickly the years would fly by.

That young girl would now have her own 13 year old son. The same age she was when she drooled over Luke Perry (RIP 😪 🙏)

But this life is even better than 90210 ♥️ – even if PJ and I are now the equivalent to those 2 nerds Jim & Cindy Walsh ☹️ 👵🏻 🧓🏻
